The South Central Health District Children’s Dental Clinic provides dental screenings for Early Head Start Centers in our ten-county service area, dental health education programs for pre-schools, and schools.

The Children’s Dental Clinic focuses on prevention, screening and referral, treatment, and oral health education for children aged 0-18. The most common dental problems that children have are dental decay, gum disease, and malocclusion. Most of these problems are preventable. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment can eliminate pain, infection, and progressive oral diseases. Our Children’s dental services include:

· Dental screenings

· Cleanings

· Oral Cancer Screenings

· Oral Hygiene Education

· X-Rays

· Fluoride varnish

· Dental sealants

· Referrals to obtain restorative care

· Referrals for Third Molar or Wisdom teeth evaluations

· Referrals to other Child Health Services available to them

Infants and toddlers need to see a dentist by age one or as soon as the first tooth erupts.

The Children’s Dental Clinic accepts all Medicaid Dental Insurances (Peach State, DentaQuest, CareSource & Medicaid/Disability) and offers a sliding fee scale for children without dental insurance coverage.
