The South Central Health District is committed to promoting the health and well-being of children through preventive healthcare services, screenings, and education. Our experienced staff partners with parents and caregivers to monitor children's growth and development while helping families meet school and childcare health requirements.

Child Health Services
Our Child Health Program offers a variety of preventive services for infants, children, and adolescents, including:
Immunizations
Vaccinations protect children from serious diseases and help keep schools and communities healthy. We also provide Georgia Immunization Certificate (Form 3231) documentation for children who are up to date on their required immunizations.
Hearing, Vision, Dental, and Nutrition Screenings
These screenings help identify concerns that may affect a child's learning, growth, or overall health. Children who need additional evaluation or treatment can be referred to the appropriate healthcare provider.
Georgia Certificate of Vision, Hearing, Dental, and Nutrition Screening (Form 3300) is available for children who complete these required screenings for school entry. You can find more information on the Georgia Department of Public Health's website here.
Well Child Health Checks
Routine well child visits help monitor your child's physical growth, development, and overall health while providing age-appropriate preventive care and health education.
Head Start Physicals
Physical examinations are available for children enrolling in Head Start programs to help ensure they are healthy and ready to learn.
Newborn Blood Spot Screenings
Newborn blood spot screening helps detect certain rare but serious health conditions shortly after birth so treatment can begin as early as possible when needed.
Childhood Lead Screenings
Lead exposure can affect a child's growth and development, often without obvious symptoms. Lead screening helps identify elevated blood lead levels early so families can receive appropriate follow-up care and education.
Scoliosis Screenings
Scoliosis screenings help detect abnormal curvature of the spine during childhood and adolescence, allowing for early referral and treatment if needed.
Head Lice Checks
Our staff provides head lice assessments and education to help families identify and manage infestations while reducing the spread in schools and childcare settings.
